研究の概要

　ロシア、中国、インドなどのユーラシアの地域大国について、人文・社会科学の諸分野（国際関係、政治、経済、社会、歴史、文化）からの総合的、体系的な比較を行い、これら諸国が地域大国として発展・定着できる条件が何であるのかを明らかにする。また、超大国とその他の国々の間に、地域大国という「中間項」を入れることにより、世界を理解するうえでの新たな視座を確立し、この視座から、現代世界の様々な問題について検討する。ユーラシア地域大国が世界のなかでどのような位置を占めるようになるのか、世界に対してどのような新しいモデルを提示することができるのか、さらには、どのような世界秩序が今後形成されるのかなどについての学術的解明が期待される。

Abstract of Research Project

This project intends to make a comprehensive and systematic comparison of major regional powers in Eurasia, including Russia, China and India, and to analyze the sustainability of these countries as regional powers. The aim of this project is to establish a new viewpoint by inserting an intermediary layer (i.e., regional powers) between a super power and ordinary states. From this vantage point, pressing issues in contemporary Eurasia and beyond will be analyzed. The specific research questions that this project will address are: What places will these regional powers occupy in the world? What kind of new models will they present to the world? And what will the future world order look like?
