This is to notify that MEXT has undergone a sampling investigation to confirm the number of enrolled international students (in universities and Specialized Training Colleges) in the Tohoku region (17 universities and 3 Specialized Training Colleges), living within commuting distance from their schools, presently remaining near their school campuses.

According to the results from the April 20, 2011 survey, 35.1 percent of international students were found remaining on their school campus, whereas in the subsequent May 20, 2011 survey, 86.5 percent of the students were confirmed.
The current July 1, 2011 survey found 93.8 percent of the students in the Tohoku region remaining within commuting distances from their schools.
Results from the May 20, 2011 survey found 87.4 percent of the students in the Tohoku region remained within commuting distances from their schools.
Results from the current July 1, 2011 survey found 91.0 percent of the students in the Tohoku region remaining within commuting distances from their schools.
