International Cooperation

In order to strengthen cooperation with developing countries in primary and secondary education, MEXT has been promoting the "Cooperation base system," a project which systematizes cooperation built on Japan's experience and know-how of Japan in the field of educational cooperation. MEXT is organizing Japan's educational cooperation experience for example, by developing models for cooperation, such as educational materials, manuals, etc. that can be used at the site of actual educational cooperation.
Moreover, through international development cooperation support centers, MEXT has been providing relevant information, implementing training and seminars, and developing and providing a database of universities and teachers with a strong interest in international development cooperation activities in order to promote international development cooperation efforts by universities and the commissioning of international cooperation projects from aid agencies.
For post-conflict countries (Afghanistan), Japan is supporting reconstruction through training in Japan, etc. Japan, furthermore, intends to continue to provide support through coordination with international agencies and other concerned institutions, while taking the local circumstances into consideration.
