Biography

The Senior Vice Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology was born in December 1953. During his junior and senior high school days he belonged to the volleyball team. After graduating from university, the Senior Vice Minister entered the Ministry of Construction (currently the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism). After serving as Director in Charge of the City Bureau Land Readjustment Project, he was asked to run as a candidate by the LDP Kochi Prefectural Chapter in 1999, whereupon the Senior Vice Minister left the Ministry of Construction. Ever since he was elected for the first time in the 2000 House of Representatives election, the Senior Vice Minister served on various committees such as the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Committee on Audit and Oversight of Administration, the Committee on Judicial Affairs, the Committee on Security, the Special Committee on Consumer Affairs, the Committee on Land and Transport and the Committee on the Environment.
