- Support System to Invite Foreign Researchers

		JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Foreign Researchers
		This program was established to assist promising and highly qualified young foreign researchers wishing to conduct research in Japan. It is aimed at providing opportunities for such researchers to, under the guidance of their hosts, conduct cooperative research with leading research groups in universities and other Japanese institutions, thereby permitting them to advance their own research while stimulating Japanese academic circles, particularly young Japanese researchers, through close collaboration in scientific activities. Such collaboration is also intended to advance scientific research in the counterpart countries. (Fellowships are awarded for a period of 12 to 24 months.)
		JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Foreign Researchers (Short-term)
		This fellowship program was launched 2003 to provide special short-term quotas for North America and European researchers to experience firsthand the research and living environment in Japan. (Fellowships are awarded for a period of 15 days to 11 months.)
		JSPS Summer Program
		The JSPS Summer Program is implemented as a component of the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Foreign Researchers. It provides opportunities for young pre- and post-doctoral researchers from North American and Europe to receive an orientation on Japanese culture and research systems and to pursue research under the guidance of host researchers at Japanese universities and research institutes over a period of two months during the summer (from late June through late August). JSPS seeks cooperation from its overseas partners in recruiting candidates for the program. In implementing this program, our overseas partners are the National Science Foundation (USA), British Council (UK), Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (France), Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (Germany), and the Canadian Embassy in Japan.
		JSPS Invitation Fellowship Program for Research in Japan (Long Term)
		The JSPS Invitation Fellowship for Research in Japan (Long Term) is offered to promote international scientific cooperation and exchange. It allows researchers employed at designated Japanese research institutions to invite fellow researchers from other countries to Japan to participate in cooperative activities at their research institutions. (Fellowships are awarded for a period of 2 to 10 months)
		JSPS Invitation Fellowship Program for Research in Japan (Short Term)
		The JSPS Invitation Fellowship for Research in Japan (Short Term) is offered to promote international scientific cooperation and exchange. It allows researchers employed at designated Japanese research institutions and laboratories to invite fellow researchers from other countries to Japan to participate in discussions, attend seminars, give lectures, or perform similar duties at their institutions. (Fellowships are awarded for a period of 14 to 60 days)
		JSPS Award for Eminent Scientists
		The aim of this program is to provide tutorial and financial support for promising researchers in Asia who wish to obtain their Ph.D. degrees from Japanese universities through the submission of a dissertation without matriculating a doctoral course. This program is implemented in cooperation with JSPS's overseas the nominating organizations in Asia.

		The JSPS RONPAKU (Dissertation Ph.D.) Program
		The aim of this program is to provide tutorial and financial support for promising researchers in Asia who wish to obtain their Ph.D. degrees from Japanese universities through the submission of a dissertation without matriculating a doctoral course. This program is implemented in cooperation with JSPS's overseas the nominating organizations in Asia.

		Asian Science Seminar
		JSPS administers "Asian Science Seminar", which is a program of holding seminars in the form of a summer school in Japan and other Asian countries. These seminars are designed to spur scientific achievement in the region by introducing the latest scientific advances to the young Asian researchers who attend them.
		Japanese-American Frontiers of Science (JAFoS)
		Japanese-American Frontiers of Science (JAFoS) Symposium Series is implemented through cooperation between JSPS and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS). JAFoS has as its objective the encouragement of cross-disciplinary discussion among young researchers from Japan and the U.S. This series is intended to contribute to cultivating new academic horizons and to fostering researchers with broad international ties and perspectives.
		ESF-JSPS Frontier Science Meeting for Young Researchers
		The Series of "ESF-JSPS Frontier Science Meeting for Young Researchers" is implemented through cooperation between JSPS and the European Science Foundation(ESF). The Series has been established for the purpose of providing opportunities to talented, young researchers from Japan and Europe to expand their knowledge and vistas of selected frontier fields of resaerch. This is done through a rpocess of lectures by and interactive dialogues with resarchers who are both leaders and mentors in the subject field. These meetings also offer an ideal platform for network building among the participants.
		Advanced Science Institute (ASI)
		The Advanced Science Institute (ASI) program is designed to provide opportunities for promising researchers from the East-Pacific region to meet and interact in a professional context, with the expectation that such interaction will stimulate life-long interest in international research cooperation and encourage international network building among them. Participating Organizations are Australian Research Council (ARC), National Research Council of Canada (NRCC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) ,National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF), and National Science Foundation (NSF).

- Short-term training program in brain science

		RIKEN Brain Science Institute Summer Program
		The RIKEN Brain Science Institute (RIKEN BSI), Japan, offers a summer program to train advanced students interested in brain function. Applicants may choose either a two-month laboratory internship (Plan A) with one of the laboratories at RIKEN BSI, or participate in an intensive two-week lecture course (Plan B) featuring a distinguished international faculty.
