Culture, Education, Science and Technology

Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó paid a courtesy visit to MEXT Minister HAGIUDA Koichi on November 6th. The head exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of culture, education and science and technology.

The ministers also discussed exchanges between universities and exchange students, with reference to the 1st EU Policy Dialogue held in Hungary in July 2018.

The number of Japanese exchange students studying in Hungary is on the rise. Japan tops the list for the highest number of exchange students studying at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. The Hungarian government provides scholarships to Japanese students through the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program.

Minister Szijjártó said he hopes the program will be disseminated to more people in Japan so more young Japanese students will know such opportunities exist.
