Myanmar’s Minister of Information, Pe Myint, arrived in Japan to attend a film screening event on October 26th, sponsored by the Japan Agency for Cultural Affairs, National Movie Archives. The film co-produced by Japan and Myanmar (then Burma) titled “A Japanese Girl” in 1935, has been digitally revived with detailed visuals and vivid audios.

Minister Pe Myint said he is also scheduled to visit the opening ceremony of the Tokyo International Film Festival, the Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK), and the Japan Institute of Moving Image.

MEXT Minister HAGIUDA Koichi said he hopes exchanges in Japanese movies and people working in the visual field will help enhance ties between Japan and Myanmar in the film sector.

Minister Pe Myint said as there is plenty Myanmar can learn from Japan, he hopes to learn a lot within his limited period of stay.
