The Rugby World Cup winning trophy, also called the Webb Ellis Cup now on a trophy tour, arrived in Kasumigaseki for a public viewing during the “Children’s Kasumigaeki Day Event” held across ministries in the area.
A ceremony for the trophy’s first day of public viewing was held on August 7th. The event was attended by MEXT Minister Shibayama Masahiko, Japan Sports Agency Commissioner Suzuki Daisuke, 2019 RWC Dream Supporter Murofushi Koji, and the CEO of the RWC Organizing Committee Shimazu Akira along with children participants.

Minister Shibayama said he is very excited about the entire nation becoming aroused by rugby, watching rugby super powers in a heated battle against each other. The minister said only the winning team can hold the Webb Ellis Cup, and asked for the children’s support to root for Japan’s national team along with their family and friends so he team can take hold of the trophy.

Minister Shibayama, JSA Commissioner Suzuki, RWC Dream Supporter Murofushi and CEO of RWC Organizing Committee Shimazu participated in quizzing the children on the RWC.
