Today we confirmed that the H-IIA Launch Vehicle carrying the geostationary meteorological satellite “Himawari-8” was launched and reached a predetermined orbit.  We anticipate smooth satellite operation and achievement of its desired weather observation objectives.

The 19th straight successful launch of the H-IIA Launch Vehicle demonstrates the dramatic progress of Japan’s flagship rocket toward establishing credibility at the highest global standards.

We expect that Japan’s flagship rocket will support the use of space development toward improvement of the lives of the Japanese people, international contribution, and the realization of the dreams of humanity while also succeeding in international markets.  I intend to work hard on creating the necessary environment toward such achievements.
