2. Enhancement of the National Theatre
In FY1999, there were a total of 157 different works of Kabuki and Bunraku performed (1,001 performances). Eleven people completed programs to foster successors, in areas such as Kabuki acting and playing the shamisen for Bunraku performances. In FY2000, efforts will continue in order to further enhance these programs and to popularize traditional performing arts.
