Section 2: Promotion of Cultural Activities in Local Areas
3. Improving the Management of Cultural Facilities

(1) Expanding the Activities of Art Museums

In order to improve the quality of curators, the Agency for Cultural Affairs, in cooperation with national museums and universities, organizes the ACA Curator Training Course to teach specialized knowledge and skills.

(2) Public Cultural Facilities

The Agency for Cultural Affairs established the Researchers Committee for the Revitalization of Public Cultural Halls in September 1999, in order to discuss the role of public cultural halls in the context of our changing society, and published the report of the committee in July 2000. The report, entitled "Toward Creating Diverse and Rich Centers of Cultural Activities in Local Areas-Revitalization of Public Cultural Halls and their Role" confirms the roles of public cultural halls, analyzes the current situation and related issues, and suggests measures to be taken by public cultural halls and national and local governments.
