5. Supports for Mecenat Activities


The Association for Corporate Support of the Arts, which aims to coordinate among corporate support for arts and culture, is recognized as a special public interest corporation. Therefore, donations toward art activities which are approved by the council are eligible for preferential tax measures (see Figure 2-8-2 ).

In FY1999, 155 artistic activities were approved by the council (compared with 111 in FY1998), and a total of 515.66 million yen (compared with 442.81 million yen in FY1998) was donated by 752 corporations (compared with 697 in FY1998).
