(1) Promotion of Broadcasting

The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture is promoting the use of educational broadcasting by providing subsidies for research councils and other organizations in this area. The Ministry has commissioned the Commercial Broadcasters' Educational Association to produce and broadcast a television series titled Parents' Eyes, Children's Eyes. This organization has also been commissioned to carry out research and surveys concerning educational programs. Nihon Short-Wave Broadcasting Co. has been commissioned to produce and broadcast radio programs for educational personnel throughout Japan.


(2) Development and Improvement of Regional Visual Information

The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture provides subsidies for projects to collect, organize, and distribute regional visual information and materials owned by public institutions, such as schools and social education facilities, and by private enterprises for the development and improvement of teaching materials based on these resources, and also provides subsidies for programs to promote the utilization of these materials. These subsidies are provided as part of the Ministry's efforts to develop and improve teaching materials with a regional flavor.
