The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture is actively promoting research in fields that require an organized, international approach, that reflect important social needs, or that require relatively high expenditures for large-scale equipment and facilities. In supporting such activities, the Ministry takes into account worldwide research trends, circumstances in Japan, and various other factors.
