1. Summary of Religious Corporations


There are presently many large scale religious organizations in Japan, including denominations, sects and associations, as well as large and small religious organizations such as shrines, temples, churches and so on, all of which are engaged in various religious activities. Among these, as many as 184,000 religious organizations have been recognized as religious corporations under the Religious Juridical Persons Law (Table I-2-12). (Table I-2-13).
