There has been a recent willingness on the part of the private sector to make a social contribution in the field of culture, as well as a greater recognition of the fact that development in the cultural sphere is indispensable to economic development. As a result, the number of instances are increasing in which private firms support existing cultural and artistic programs, independently carry out their own such programs and contribute funds to establish organizations which support art and culture. The role played by private firms in the cause of promoting art and culture will most likely continue to increase in importance.
The positive cooperation provided by the private sector in the establishment of the Japan Arts Fund reflects this sector's growing interest in the area of culture. The Fund will endeavor to continue its collaboration and cooperation with private firms that display a desire to contribute to the realm of art and culture.
