Chapter 6. Promotion of "Social Education"
3 Enrichment of Out-of-School Education for Youths
(2) Enrichment of Community Programs for Youths

Various community programs for youths are carried out by local public bodies and other organizations concerned. The Ministry has been carrying out "special programs for promoting the learning of young people about their home community." These are model and pilot programs designed to meet social demands, by which young people learn about their own communities and, upon this basis, engage themselves in practical community activities. Other programs the Ministry promotes are "programs for frontier adventure" in which young people are enabled to experience self-sustaining living for a long period in the natural environment. In addition, the Ministry is carrying out programs to promote volunteer activities of young people.
