(2) Financial Aid to Private Upper Secondary Schools


With a view to helping private schools maintain and improve the level of their educational standards, every year the Ministry provides prefectural governments with national subsidies for grants to private upper secondary schools and other institutions for their current expenditures. in addition to the subsidies from the Local Allocation Tax. In fiscal 1991, the Ministry's subsidies amounted to 79,900 million yen, representing an increase of 2,300 million yen over the previous year. The Ministry also offers subsidies for the purchase of educational computers.
