(3) Religious Corporations and Government Services related to Religions
There are a large number of religious organizations in Japan.
More than 180,000 religious organizations have gained the legal status of non-profit
religious corporations.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs is responsible for government
services related to religious affairs, including the approval of the foundation
of religious corporations. It also gives religious corporations relevant guidance
so that they may properly manage their own organizations.
