CHAPTER 5 EDUCATIONAL EXPENDITURES
2 Breakdown of Educational Expenditures
(4) Educational Expenditures per Student

School education expenditures per student in fiscal 1965 and fiscal 1973 are compared in Chart 5-7.

For educational expenditures per student in fiscal 1973, classified by type of school, those for local special education schools were the greatestat \1,630,000, followed by national universities at \910,000 and local junior colleges at \580,000 in that order.

If the amount of expenditure for fiscal 1973, converted into the real value (in terms of fiscal 1965 price level), is compared with that for fiscal 1965, it is found that the amount of expenditure for fiscal 1973 was a little smaller than that for fiscal 1965 in private junior colleges, but was larger in all other types of schools.

At the kindergarten, upper secondary school, junior college and university level educational expenditures per student in private institutions are smaller than those in national and local institutions. The gap between national and private universities in this regard was \340.000 for fiscal 1965 and \350,000 (in real terms) for fiscal l973. In additiou, in making a precise comparison between different fiscal years and between local and private schools, the discrepancy in the distribution of enrollment in each fieTd of specialization has to be taken into consideration.
