The average number of teaching hours per week for full-time and part-time teachers in universities in 1974 is shown in Chart 3-17.

The number of part-time teachers (teachers of one school concurrently serving part-time in other schools) in universities is shown in the following table, which indicates a lafge proportion of part-time teachers in private unnversuttes.


Next, the ratio of the average teaching hours ptr week for part-time teachers to those of full-time teachers is shown in Table 3 -9.

The number of part-time teachers,if converted into that of full-time teachers on

the basis of this ratio, comes to 3,893 persons in national universities and 14,397 persons in private universities. Addition of these figures to the number of real full-time teachers is graphically shown in Chart 3-18.

The ratio of the number of full-time teachers to that of part-time teachers, converted into the number of fuil-time teachers, stands at l:0.2 in national universities, and 1:0.5 in private universities. In terms of the field of specialization, the ratio is the highest in the field of humanities.
