As of 1975, there was a total of 1,520,000 educational personnel (including 1,130,000 full-time teachers and 390,000 full-time clerical staff) recruited for school education in Japan.
The number of educational personnel has been growing continuously since 1950 for all categories of schools, as indicated in Chart 0-3.
The number of educational personnel has nearly doubled during the last 25 years, with its proportion to the whole working population of Japan also increasing from 2.O% in 1950 to 2.9% in 1975.
