(1) Facilities
c. Facilities for Social Education


There are various sorts of institutes or facilities for social educational activities since the activities are very diversified.

Table 60 shows the changes in the last 5 years regarding social educational institutes or facilities established by the national government or local public bodies (Libraries and museums include those established by private funds). One notes that the number of facilities for youth, social educational facilities and museums have increased while the number of public halls has decreased considerably. This is because some branches, which had not actually functioned, were closed or integrated with others. As far as main buildings is concerned there was an increase of 238 halls.

Besides physical educational facilities established with public funds for the general public there arc physical educational facilities such as playgrounds, swimming pools, gymnasiums, baseball grounds and so forth established by private enterprises or for the use of individual firms. According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Education in 1969 of the total only 25% are public facilities.
