For the Cultivation of "Richness in Mind"
Education encompasses many roles; one important role is to help every student acquire the basic abilities and skills for living in society and to foster the mind to learn and think on their own. Equally, it is important to cultivate "Richness in Mind", which is considered the basis for accomplishing the former role. Children living in the 21st century need to possess a "Zest for Living". The focus of this chapter is placed on "Rich Humanity", because it is considered to be the core of the Zest for Living. Through the examination of various aspects of children's lives and the circumstances surrounding schools and children, a variety of measures and efforts being implemented for the improvement of education are introduced in this chapter.
