　More than 2 years have passed since the spread of the novel coronavirus. Again, I want to express my respect to all those concerned who have been trying their best to continue their activities under difficult circumstances during this period.
　In Japan, we have implemented various initiatives with the understanding and cooperation of the public to prevent the spread of infection and maintain various activities related to people's lives.
MEXT will continue to listen attentively to feedback from the people and boldly tackle the various problems faced by the people, with an eye towards with corona and post-corona society.

　MEXT White Paper for FY 2021 covered 2 themes as special features.

　Special Feature 1, " Trajectory of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Succession and Development of Legacy ", focuses on the Tokyo 2020 Games held in 2021 after being postponed for the first time in history due to COVID-19.
　The success of the athletes and the mutual appreciation among the opponents during the games conveyed dreams, hopes, and the value of sports to many citizens and children who will lead the next generation.
　The article summarizes the outline and results of these Games; it introduces the initiatives taken by MEXT to ensure the success of the games and the inheritance and development of the legacy of the Games.

　Special Feature 2 described the " The Efforts of the MEXT in the Wake of COVID-19".
　The administrative areas that are the responsibility of MEXT, such as education, science and technology, sports, culture, and the arts, are extremely important areas that make people's lives happy and rich and serve as a growth source for our country.
　The measures against COVID-19 were steadily implemented even in FY 2021, with a strong determination that we must not give up our efforts.
　The article specifically introduces measures against infectious diseases in schools, initiatives for ensuring children's learning, support for strengthening the research and development base for vaccines and therapeutic drugs, sports, culture and art activities that have been significantly impacted, and support for international students.
　The understanding and cooperation of the people are indispensable for promoting the MEXT administration. We hope this White Paper reaches as many people as possible, is extensively used, and helps to deepen their understanding.
